A white paper that does not make a specific argument is not a white paper. It is a long blog post with better formatting. The white papers that generate qualified inbound, that get read before enterprise procurement calls, that get forwarded to a buying committee are structured around a claim that the reader does not currently hold and that they will hold by the end of the document.
We write research-backed white papers for B2B SaaS and tech companies. Research-backed means we work with your team and, where available, your customer data to produce claims that have evidence behind them. We do not write white papers based on generic industry observations; that is content everyone in your category could produce.
The structure we use: open with the belief the reader currently holds and the evidence that it is incomplete. Build the case for a new framework. Show how your approach is consistent with that framework. Let the reader reach the conclusion themselves. This is different from the white paper that starts with your product and works outward, which reads like a long advertisement.
White papers for enterprise financial services, legal or regulated industries go through an additional plain-language review to ensure the claims are defensible and the document will survive a compliance read.
